Gardai from Fermoy and surrounding towns were on duty again last weekend carrying out checkpoints and patrols as part of their Operation Surround initiative.
A spokesman said that the strategy was designed to stop criminals travelling across the region on busy nights.
The gardai were also involved in assisting council officials as they dealt with the stormy weather across the Avondhu region as the third storm of February struck.
A spokesman said: “Gardaí from Fermoy District mounted Operation Surround in several locations around the district last night. Checkpoints and patrols were carried out in several towns, villages and key locations to help prevent and detect criminal activity, public order incidents and anti-social behaviour.
“The stormy weather was also keeping your emergency services, County Council teams and service providers, very busy this weekend. Please heed the weather warnings and keep an eye on our more vulnerable communities.”
