This year's 'Operation Santa' was launched in Riordan's SuperValu, Fermoy on Friday morning last. The aim of the initiative is to collect as many unwrapped toys as possible, for distribution to those in need. It's a joint venture with St. Vincent de Paul who are at the coalface in dealing with families who find themselves in difficulties at Christmas time.

Attending the launch were proprietor of Riordan's SuperValu, Michael Riordan, along with store manager, Colm Donnellan and Flan Groarke, the Fermoy secretary of St. Vincent de Paul. Michael said Riordan's SuperValu were delighted to be associated with the toy appeal, while Flan acknowledged the support of Riordan's SuperValu in facilitating the project.

'Operation Santa' will run until 19th December and all donations of unwrapped toys will be gratefully accepted. Alternatively, the public have the option of purchasing vouchers for the scheme.
