Friday, May 4 was an important day in the life of Grange National School. It marked the official launch of a campaign to raise much needed funds for the schools’ IT programme.
Over 40 parents, past pupils, teachers and the school’s Principal, Ms Catherine Reidy, have begun training for the Cork City Marathon. The Goal – to raise €10,000 to fund vital IT equipment for the school.
Comprising 79 girls and 72 boys, Grange NS is a designated Health Promoting School and it will be using the event to promote activity and fitness with the children, such as ‘Do a K a Day’ where children complete 1 kilometre of laps around the yard.
Each of the 100 families in the school will be supporting the campaign with a sponsorship programme both online and with the traditional cards to pass around to friends, families and neighbours.
It is expected that local businesses will also support this important campaign, which will benefit all the children in the school.
Donations have already started to come in, and a Corporate Sponsor Programme will be rolled out in the coming weeks by the hardworking Parents Association.
Local heroes come in many forms, some will be walking, some running, and some will be fundraising.
Keep an eye out for them in the run up to Marathon Day, it’s a good cause!
