Mitchelstown’s new arts and heritage centre, located in the former Saint George’s church, will be opening its doors to the public this coming Saturday.
An open invitation has been extended to all the people of the locality and to local organisations to visit the former church, which is at an early stage of re-development into a unique space for cultural, music, heritage and artistic events. The opening hours will be between 2pm and 5pm.
“We’re opening the building to welcome the people of Mitchelstown and to say to them that we own it in their name,” said Andrew Dineen, secretary of Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre.
He said that many people have spent their entire lives living in Mitchelstown but have never set foot inside Saint George’s.
