Cllr William O’Leary was elected unopposed, as Leas Cathaoirleach of Cork County Council’s Northern Committee this week.
The appointment took place at the Committee’s Annual Meeting on Monday and Cllr O’Leary’s term will last for the coming twelve months.
He was nominated by fellow Fianna Fáil councillor Frank O’Flynn, who said: “He might be new to the area, but he has gained great experience in a short time.”
The proposal was seconded by constituency colleague, Cllr Deirdre O’Brien, who endorsed Cllr O’Leary as being a very capable representative, and wished him well for his tenure.
Cllr Ian Doyle was elected Cathaoirleach of the Northern Committee, with Cllr Frank O’Flynn once again providing the nomination.
