Record-breaker Noel O’Callaghan has cemented his place in Irish sporting history with his 23rd national title, winning the men’s national singles racquetball open final in Kilkenny last weekend.

His third successive championship puts him two ahead of former javelin thrower, Terry McHugh – who won 21 consecutive national titles between 1984 and 2004 – on the list of most successful Irish athletes.
