There's no funding currently for standalone traffic calming of the type requested by Councillor Frank O'Flynn, for one area of the town at the recent meeting of the Fermoy Electoral Area Committee.

Cllr. O'Flynn called on Cork County Council to put traffic calming measures in place from Barry's Boreen entrance out as far as Glenabo at Duntahane, in the interest of safety of both residents and road users.

Area engineer Brendan O'Gorman told him the first port of call, as with all such requests, should be on site Garda visibility, detection and enforcement. He undertook to get the council's safety officer to look at the location for next year, for an extension of the approved proposal for that particular intersection.
