New road markings have been drawn and the entrance to the town park to increase safety for motorists entering and leaving the park and passing pedestrians.
What was something of a free-for-all previously was a cause for concern and led local councillors Noel McCarthy and Tadhg O’Donovan to table a motion last October calling on the Town Council to to install the road markings.
The work was recently done with lanes clearly delineated and an instruction to motorists leaving the park to yield to oncoming traffic. Both Councillors this week welcomed news that the work has now been done.
“It’s a very positive step in terms of health and safety. There is now proper demarcation for motorists,” Cllr O’Donovan said.
