Underneath an eye-catching ceiling built in the 1900’s, the newly opened Mellerick’s Pharmacy on Patrick Street, Fermoy, is a modern, friendly store that will come as a significant boost to the local economy.
Retaining the same local, customer-based ethos that has seen Mellerick’s thrive since 1951, the new 3,500sq ft store features a unique health food store – Well & Being – as well as cosmetic products from companies such as Clarins and Lancôme and a wide range of Christmas gifts. The new store has five consultation rooms and parking available at the rear of the store. It currently employs 20 people, and owner Orla Mellerick, said she is delighted with the positive and enthusiastic response received from the people of Fermoy.
“This is a complete vote of confidence in Fermoy as a business tow. We have put a lot of time and money into this. We believe it will work and the response is proving this. We all like nice shops, with good service and nice products.
“Hopefully it will bring other strong retailers to the town. We wanted to give the people of Fermoy and North Cork a shop that could be in Cork, Dublin or New York. It could be downtown anywhere in the world,” she said.
As a nice touch, customers may notice that the new Mellerick’s logo is the same design that features along the skirting on the old-style ceiling.
The store will be officially opened by Orla’s mother on December 6.
