Hot on the heels of the new battery-electric Opel Mokka-e reveal in June, Opel has announced preliminary details of the new Mokka internal combustion engine line-up and unveiled the first photos of a sporty new SRi Line trim.
From launch in Spring 2021, the new Mokka will be available with two petrol variants and one diesel engine, alongside the full-electric version.
Whether petrol, diesel or electric, the eye-catching new Mokka features the brand’s exciting new Vizor front face styling and attractive, new interior Opel Pure Panel instrument display.
Michael Lohscheller, Opel CEO, said: “The new Opel Mokka features everything the brand stands for, today and in the future. Fun, efficient and thoroughly innovative, the Mokka exactly symbolises the values of our brand; exciting, approachable, German.
“Our customers are free to choose whether they want to order the Mokka with an electric drivetrain or with one of our new extra efficient combustion engines.”
The lively yet economical petrol and diesel engines available offer power outputs ranging from 74W (100hp) to 96kW (130hp) and boast excellent consumption and CO2 results. Ahead of launch, the preliminary figures are determined according to the stringent new WLTP standards.
The fun starts with the entry-level 1.2 petrol 100bhp turbo 6-speed manual (4.6 l/100km, 104 g/km CO2). Higher performance is supplied by a 1.2 130bhp turbo available with manual or automatic transmission.
Despite the strong power output, fuel consumption from this all-aluminium engine remains excellent from both the 6-speed manual or smooth 8-speed automatic transmission with Quickshift technology (4.5-4.8 l/100km, 103-111 g/km CO2).
The two petrol engines are joined by a lively 1.5-litre diesel 110bhp 6-speed manual, (3.8 l/100km, 100 g/km CO2).
For optimum exhaust after-treatment, the diesel engine’s emissions reduction system consists of a passive oxidation catalyst / NOx absorber, AdBlue injector, SCR catalyst and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), grouped together as a compact single unit, as near as possible to the engine.
Coinciding with the petrol and diesel engine details announcement, Opel has unveiled the first photos of a new SRi Line trim, a sportier looking version of the Mokka.
This eye-catching new trim boasts signature red body features, a high-gloss black Vizor, black instead of chrome exterior trim elements and badges, specific front seat fabric, a red instrument panel trim, black-finished light alloy wheels, two-tone roof and black headliner.
The new Mokka promises to deliver an engaging drive and high levels of technology and comfort features, wrapped up in a stylish, premium package. It will land in Opel Dealership forecourts in Ireland in early 2021. Prices, trims and standard equipment will be announced closer to launch.
