There is some good news for the locality as Bus Éireann are to provide a bus service from Mitchelstown to Limerick from the 23rd October.
The 328 service will now begin its route outside the Livinghealth Clinic in Mitchelstown, stop at the square in the town centre, then move on to Ballylanders and Limerick Bus Station via Hospital. The journey, according to the timetable, will take approximately 90 minutes, and is to be available every day.
The first bus leaves Livinghealth at 6.30am, depositing its passengers at Limerick Bus Station at 8am. The last bus leaving Mitchelstown is at 7.50pm, and will reach Limerick Bus Station shortly after 9pm. The first bus (the 6.30am) stops at Galbally, however none of the others do.
For the return, the first bus leaves Limerick Bus Station at 6.45am and will reach Mitchelstown at approximately 8.10am. The final bus leaves Limerick at 7.20pm. Similarly to the inverse schedule, only one bus will serve Galbally on the return journey, the 5.20pm.
This service will surely be a blessing for those who are starting college in Limerick and travelling from north Cork or have hospital appointments in the city. It also will be of benefit to those living in south east Limerick who may want to reach Mitchelstown easily, and represents a welcome option for those who want to reduce their car use.
