English's Foodstore in Conna had a winner of the Lotto plus 2 on Saturday night but, as yet, no-one has come forward to claim the €250,000 prize.

Tom and Kaye English were informed on Monday by the National Lottery that they had sold the winning ticket in their shop sometime on Saturday last. The lucky winner had purchased a €4 Quickpick and won the top prize in the Lotto plus 2 draw. As they were the only winners the €250,000 top prize is all theirs.

"The shop was quiet enough on Saturday," Tom English says, as locals were preparing for Cork's outing in the All-Ireland the next day. Even on Monday, he said, the big talking point was Sunday's match and the fact that they'd get another chance at the All-Ireland title. That was until word spread that they'd sold the winning ticket.

"People were coming into us then with all kinds of tickets, Euromillions and everything, wanting them checked to see if they were the lucky ones," Tom laughed.

At the time of going to press on Wednesday, no-one had come forward with the winning ticket. They can of course keep their win to themselves and simply turn up at the National Lottery's headquarters in Dublin to claim their prize, but Tom checked with the National Lottery headquarters on Wednesday evening and was told no-one had been in touch as yet.

"I hope it was someone local," Kaye said of the mystery winner!
