Mitchelstown's Robert Hanna and Bryan Walsh, Shelly Walsh (Kilbehenny), Fiona O'Donoghue (Ballyporeen), Annemarie Kenefick and Rosie Griffin (Youghal) and the My Kenya project group will be heading to Brydges Centre in Nairobi in July for two weeks and a number of local fundraisers are planned in coming weeks to raise much needed funds and your support is requested.

There are over 70 kids in the centre. Money raised is to provide opportunities for children in Kenya to meet their health and educational needs and doing many more fantastic things, such as sustainability projects with livestock and growing vegetables. Our goal is to create opportunities to help in a meaningful and constructive way to assist disadvantaged people in the developing world.

We believe there are hundreds if not thousands of people in Ireland who would like to make a practical contribution in some way to assist in the developing world. Many larger agencies insist that their workers have a graduate qualification and are available of long term contracts.

We, however, want to offer more practical opportunities for willing volunteers. Many people have professional and life skills that can be utilised and applied to given situations.

So, in conjunction with colleagues in Kenya, we can provide such opportunities. Your support to this project is always needed and very much appreciated. If you would like more information on this project in anyway or to volunteer in the next group that will be going you can contact us at any time at mykenyaproject5@gmail.com or visit www.brydgescentre.org or www.mykenyaproject.org. It is a once in a lifetime experience and a great opportunity to help in East Africa.

On Sunday, June 22 bingo and a cake sale will be held at TO Park, Knockadea with a raffle and great prizes to be won. The cake sale is to run from 1-5pm and the bingo is scheduled to start at 3pm sharp .
