Musgrave celebrates 11-year collaboration with UCC on CPD Programme

Ireland’s leading food retail, wholesale, and foodservice company Musgrave, is celebrating an 11-year partnership with UCC for its CPD Certificate in Continuous Improvement (Green Belt) programme.

The programme is part of the Musgrave Institute, which provides learning and development to enhance the skills and knowledge of colleagues through accredited programmes and interactive training sessions.

Since the programme began in 2014, 225 people from across the Musgrave business have completed the programme from the areas of supply chain, trading, finance, IT, Store Development, HR and independent retailers with over 120 Musgrave colleagues expected to complete the programme within the next 5 years.

RECRUITING FOR NEXT PROGRAMME

Speaking about the programme and the positive impact it has had for Musgrave employees, Michael Twohig, Head of Store Development and Winning Store Operating Model, said the collaboration with UCC has had a significant impact on building the capability of their teams.

“This programme was designed specifically for wholesale and retail colleagues with the aim of enhancing their capabilities and mindset to effectively compete and win in the various markets we operate in. I would like to extend my thanks to Seamus O’Reilly and Joe O’Callaghan from UCC who have delivered this programme with excellence and ensured a consistent demand for participation.”

As part of the programme, each participant must complete a Lean Green Belt project. Each project aims to reduce waste, make efficiencies, or otherwise drive continuous improvement and benefit to the business.

The Musgrave Institute’s partnership with UCC is set to continue as a new cohort of participants are currently being recruited for the next programme which will start in September.
