In May, Rachel Lynch from Kildorrery won the melodeon competition at the Cork County Fleadh but has now gone one better by being crowned 'Munster Melodeon Champion' at last weekend's Munster Fleadh which was held in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. She was competing in the 12-15 age group category and will now go on to compete in the All-Ireland Fleadh in Sligo from August 9th -16th.

Speaking to The Avondhu Rachel, aged 14 and who is a member of Ballyduff Comhaltas, said she is delighted with the win and will 'treasure the medal’. She played a jig and a reel in Nenagh and is now looking forward to the final. She goes to Presentation Secondary School in Mitchelstown and is also an Irish dancer, performing in the Booley House Show in Ballyduff every Wednesday. We wish Rachel the very best of luck in the All-Ireland Fleadh.
