Richard Ryan Promotions brings a wonderful one-woman show to Kilworth with Alison Skilbeck, the renowned actress (famous for her West End role in The Phantom Of The Opera, and numerous film and tv appearances). She wrote, and performs, ‘Are There More Of You?’.
She is such a consummate actress, and she inhabits the four characters she creates during the evening, with a wonderfully expressive face and such changes in tone, inflection and accent, as we meet women at a turning point in their lives or the lives of those they are in contact with.
On a bare stage of black drapes, there is just a chair and a coat/hat stand, with the minimum of props or costumes needed to ring in the subtle changes of desperation, borderline depression and a wonderful resilience that is in no way cloying or unrealistic. There was flesh and blood, anger, vituperation, resignation and retaliation.
Don’t miss ‘Are There More Of You’ in Kilworth on Sunday, October 6. More on this great piece in next week’s edition.
