Plans for the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Mitchelstown are to be discussed at a meeting between James O’Connor TD and the Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien on Tuesday next.
The meeting was proposed in the Dáil at the beginning of May. This week, Deputy O’Connor confirmed to The Avondhu that the meeting will take place at the Custom House in Dublin on 31st August, specifically for the purpose of discussing the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Mitchelstown.
The announcement of the meeting comes in the same week that local resident and long-time campaigner for the plant, Denis McGrath, reports that he has been told by a reliable source that the 2025 completion date for the plant is ‘a pipe dream’.
“They said to me that in April it was at an advanced design stage, but it wasn’t even sent out for design. They could see that they had sent it to a company to do the design, but it’s not actually done.”
