To mark the 20 year anniversary of Bishopstown Hillwalking Club, the club have organised the Mitchelstown Walking Festival to take place across the Easter weekend, with walks in the Galtees, Knockmealdown and Ballyhoura mountains.

Bishopstown Hillwalking Club is one of the largest hillwalking clubs, they organise walks every weekend for all levels of ability and fitness and on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20, they will have a full range of walks, varying in length and difficulty to suit all walkers.

Registration for the weekend will take place in The Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown and Deebert House Hotel, Kilmallock. Visit www.mitchelstownwalkingfestival.net for more details - registration forms and entries will be accepted on the days.

On Easter Sunday, between 11am and 2pm, there will be a family orienteering introduction event and competition at Green Wood in Ardpatrick, also known as the Mountain Bike Trails Centre. Accomodation is available in the area for those who want to attend both days.

The next event after the Mitchelstown Walking Festival will be the Ballyhoura International Way Walking Festival, which takes place between May 3-5 with more than 40 guided walks. While the Glen of Aherlow walking festival takes place on May 30-June 2.
