It was the dawning of a new day for the sixth class students in Mitchelstown this week, as two ceremonies in CBS Primary and Bunscoil na Toirbhirte marked the end of a long chapter and the beginning of a new exciting one for the students who will be starting secondary school in August.

In the CBS Primary, there were songs and performances to encapsulate the experiences of the boys in their years at the school, while the girls in the Bunscoil similarly captured their memories through songs and speeches - with both classes choosing to sing 'Time Of Your Life' as their farewell song.

While both principals bestowed many words of wisdom onto the students in their separate graduation ceremonies, some of this advice will stick with them throughout the rest of their days.

The messages that came through strongly were to respect one another, try to do some volunteer work, make new friends and study hard.

As a memento of their years in the Bunscoil, the girls were each given a class photo and also an autograph book, so that they can have a catalogue of memories and phrases to call upon in years to come, while the CBS boys filmed and showed their own fantastically done version of the Harlam Shake.

Before tucking into some welcome refreshments, the students were told that no matter where they go in life, they will always be a CBS boy or a Bunscoil girl.
