The people of Mitchelstown are still stunned following the unexpected death of Susan Burke of Captain Keane's Grove on Thursday.
Married to Eddie for more than twenty years, Susan passed away in her sleep on September 19 and is survived by her siblings Ann, Teresa, Michael and Jacqueline. She will be dearly missed by her relatives, neighbours, friends and all those who knew her.
Susan was a very positive and happy woman who enjoyed going for walks with friends or with her husband, keeping up to date with her soaps in the evenings and meeting with friends.
She contracted TB of the brain five years ago and had been living in darkness ever since, having lost her sight as a result. Up until the night she sadly passed away, she was still hopeful that some medical advancements might lead to a return of her sight, but it was not to be.
A large crowd of mourners said their farewells to Susan at her funeral Mass on Sunday last which was celebrated by Fr Michael Fitzgerald PP. Tributes were also expressed by representatives from the National Council of the Blind for Ireland who were helping Susan to live a more independent life.
To her husband Eddie, her sisters Ann, Teresa and Jacqueline and her brother Michael, we extend our sincere sympathy.
