Mitchelstown Fire Brigade were this week in a privileged position, as they were allocated one of just two brand new 132 registered fire engines in County Cork this year.

The other new fire engine went to Bandon, and Mitchelstown were able to replace the last new fire engine they had, which they received 13 years ago.

The new fire engine, a Scania p320, had the bodywork done by Sidhean Teo WrL based in Galway.

Firefighters in Mitchelstown are delighted with the new fire engine, as the modern vehicle comes with more locker space, and state of the art equipment, lights and a computerised system.
