Starting as they mean to go on, the first round of the Mitchelstown Enhancement Awards, which have just been released, have put every area on a strong footing for the rounds ahead.

Kay Dawson of the Mitchelstown Tidy Towns group, AROMA said that they are thrilled with all of the areas taking part and that the standard is coming up for all entries.

"That sense of pride in their own area is brilliant and over the next few weeks, the outside judge will be coming to do the judgement for the second round and it's important that the areas are kept up to a good standard at all times," she said.

The enhancement awards are a great way for people to take pride in their own areas, by ensuring that they are litter and weed free and by also taking painting, colour and planting into consideration to make where they live look its best for both visitors and locals alike.
