In the dark hours of Saturday, May 7, people from Mitchelstown and surrounding areas will be abandoning their warm and cosy beds to take part in Mitchelstown’s first ‘Darkness Into Light’ 5km walk/run at 4.15am.
The event is the flagship fundraiser for Pieta House, a centre for the prevention of self-harm or suicide.
The event will start at Mitchelstown Leisure Centre at 4.15am while it is still dark and participants are expected to finish around 5.30am as dawn is breaking.
As a large number of participants are expected to take part, the committee are asking anyone who is driving to the event to please use the parking facilities at SuperValu and Tesco and people are encouraged to car pool where possible.
Anyone who would like to take part can register online at www.dil.pieta.ie and for those who would rather not register online, there are local registration days.
People can register at the Livinghealth Clinic, Mitchelstown on this Thursday, April 14 between 2pm and 5pm and in Tesco Mitchelstown on Saturday, April 23 and Saturday, April 30 between 11am and 3pm.
