MITCHELSTOWN G.A.A.

Bandon 4-15 Mitchelstown 1-6

Mitchelstown made the journey to a windswept Caherlag on Saturday evening last and were simply blown away by a superior Bandon side.

On last week’s preview it was stated “ Bandon will start as slight favourites mainly due to their ability to score goals amassing nine in four matches” rang through and raising four green flags was hugely instrumental in their win.

Mitchelstown playing against a gale force wind started well and working hard as a unit saw them weather the Bandon storm with the teams level at one point each after 15 minutes. Shane Cahill had a goal effort superbly saved by the Bandon keeper and they in turn went up the field and scored 1-2 in quick succession . Three minutes later Bandon tagged on another 1-1 and Mitchelstown were shell shocked .

Bandon surged forward and when the half time whistle came the score line read 3-10 to 0-2 and the game was effectively over as a contest. Mitchelstown started the second half well even though the wind had died somewhat they continued to press at the Bandon defence but when you have a lead of 17 points you defend it and this Bandon are masters at, so Mitchelstown will sit back and think of what might have been when the final whistle went the score read 4-15 to 1-6 with Mitchelstown’s goal coming from Shane Beston.
