A mental health seminar being held in Fermoy Community Youth Theatre this Friday, October 18 is set to be a success, given that all places have been filled.

Students from Fermoy, Mitchelstown and other area secondary schools have all been invited and plan to attend the event which will discuss positive mental health and welfare.

It’s being organised by the Fermoy Mental Health Committee as part of Mental Health Awareness Week. Renowned author, broadcaster and public speaker Christy Kenneally is the keynote speaker. Siobhan Mackey, Community Drugs Worker with the Cloyne Diocesan Youth Service, based in Fermoy, will also speak at the seminar as will Liam Doocey, Youth Development Officer with Youth Health Services, Cork.

Local champion swimmer, Owen O’Keefe, will be a guest speaker, talking about the benefits of positive mental attitude.

The seminar is one of a series of initiatives Fermoy Mental Health Committee has planned. Earlier this year it played an active role in a local anti-bullying campaign.
