The Mitchelstown Business Association has applied for funding through Cork County Council to enhance the appearance of two derelict buildings on the main street.
The properties, one at upper Cork Street, and the other at lower Cork Street, have been considered major eyesores by locals for several years.
MBA treasurer Denis McGrath, told The Avondhu that the business association continues to push for a better looking main street.
“We have applied for Streetscape grant aid to clean up two derelict buildings in Lower and Upper Cork Street. The new MBA committee is adamant that we will make a difference and make Mitchelstown better.”
Mitchelstown Business Association propose to have the painting of the buildings completed by local volunteers.
Any grant aid would go towards the purchase of the paint and the hiring of a lift.
They will provide their own power washers and cleaning equipment.
