Another green shoot sprouted up in Mitchelstown last week with the official opening of 'watersave' - a retail outlet carrying an extensive range of plumbing accessories and who specialise in water conservation.

A family run business, the driving force behind the venture are the Lanes from Clonlough, Martin and Gerry - together with Martin's wife, Mairead and administrator, Kate McAuiiffe.

The store, with its marine blue and white frontage at Upper Cork Street looks really well and already, customers have taken a keen interest in the relatively inexpensive fittings that will significantly reduce their water bills.

Minister of State, Sean Sherlock, who has strong family links with Mitchelstown, was on hand to cut the tape. Before doing the honours, Sean praised Martin and Gerry for their entrepreneurial spirit and wished them well with Watersave.

"What Martin and Gerry are promoting in terms of water conservation will become the norm in the years ahead. I wholeheartedly congratulate them and wish everyone associated with Watersave the very best for the future," Minister Sherlock said.

Family, neighbours and friends turned out in force for the opening and everyone got to enjoy a glass of wine and some refreshments following formalities.

Martin or Gerry can be contacted in person at Watersave in Mitchelstown or alternatively, queries and sales can be dealt with by phone, 025-84290.
