Magic Roundabout Theatre bring their acclaimed production 'Spinal Krapp', written by Darren Maher and performed by Zeb Moore to Friars’ Gate on Saturday, 21st September at 8pm.

In the land before time, in the recession before this one, a boy grows up in a crowded family on a crowded housing estate in Dublin 13. Attempting to endure and adapt through a combination of agoraphobia and escapism: he becomes part-comedian and part lunatic – coating himself in anecdotes like a schizophrenic pop/culture machine trying desperately to cover up his childhood. The ‘Spinal Krapp’ monologue may be the first 'stand-up tragedy'.

'Spinal Krapp' runs at about sixty minutes and utilises conventions of public storytelling, stand up comedy and serious theatre. All are mixed together in a multi-textual performance where a rich and dazzling array of pop-culture and Irish cultural references are used, both to evoke an era and also to describe a happy and hilarious childhood interrupted by tragic circumstance. 'Spinal Krapp' is a one-man show written for, and performed by Dublin’s own Zeb Moore. The character he plays was described by Irish Theatre magazine as: “ . . multidimensional . . a character in conflict, hiding behind good stories’.
