Individually, either Sam O'Doherty and Nicholas McCarthy would serve up a wonderful night's entertainment but together, as 'Mac & O', this will be an unforgettable night at The Village Arts Centre, Kilworth on Thursday, August 1.

Sam O'Doherty is an accomplished accordionist, singer and overall entertainer whose career has spanned three decades and two continents. Just as much at home on the small stage as the larger venue, Kilworth will be a perfect fit for 'The Man from The Glen'! Sam has brought his music across America and Canada and his relaxed style of presenting a powerful and energetic performance is well renowned. We can expect requests on the night for his singing of 'The Galtee Mountain Boy' or his rendition of 'The Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves' and no doubt, Sam will deliver!

A brilliant songwriter, Nick McCarthy has over 60 songs to his credit including such well known ones as 'Never Too Far From My Mind', 'To My Children I'm Irish', 'Tipperary On My Mind' and the much requested 'How's She Cuttin'. He has been living in his native Tipperary this past 25 years, but prior to that, lived in England for 30 years. It was there he had his first radio spot on The Jimmy Young Show on the BBC with The Alabama Hayriders back in 1966. Subsequently he took part in the Maida Vale Sessions for BBC Radio 2 and the World Service of the BBC. His first TV appearance was on the Ralph Emery show with WSM in the USA in 1976 and again in 1978.
Nicholas got my first guitar at the age of 17 or so, and with the aid of Bert Weedon's 'How To Play In A Day' tuition book, he launched into what was to become, a lifetime love affair with music.

These two old buddies join forces for a very special night of music, song and craic. Book your ticket early from the usual outlets, The Avondhu office, Fermoy (025-32227); Cotter's Bar, Kilworth (025-27109 after 5pm), Hyland's Bookshop, Mitchelstown (025-24528) or call 087-6492514.
