Local talent contributes to Mallow bicentenary celebrations

The quilt, which is still being finished this week, will hang in St James’ Church in Mallow to remember the last 200 years.

A number of local patchworkers have lent their skills to the creation of a Bicentenary Quilt, to celebrate 200 years in St James’ Church in Mallow.

The talents of Myrtle Forde, Ellen Buckley and Susan Buckley from Castletownroche, with Alison Bingham, Doneraile and Hazel Sherlock, Mitchelstown along with Rev Eileen Cremin, have all played a part in the building of the 101 inch square quilt to be hung in the church next week.

Co-ordinator Jennifer Hartnett explained that the quilt is part of a number of events to mark the bicentennial celebrations of St James, which kick off next Sunday for a full week of celebrations.
