A number of school secretaries in the local area held a strike on Friday last where they stood outside the school for approximately an hour or so with placards to highlight their dissatisfaction with their current pay and conditions.
It is understood that school secretaries employed after 1978 are paid by the Board of Management and thus we are not afforded the same entitlements as other staff.
They are now calling on the Department of Education and Skills to give them more support and security.
