Local distillery awarded at 2024 Euro-Toques Food Awards

Winners of the 2024 Euro-Toques Food Awards: Coolattin, McGeough, Apple Farm, BKultured, Rossmore Oysters, and Blackwater Distillery

Blackwater Distillery, based in Ballyduff Upper, has been recognised among Ireland’s most exceptional food producers honoured at the 2024 Euro-Toques Food Awards.

The local distillery was awarded for its outstanding spirits and its contribution to protecting the tradition and skill of the age-old craft of distillation in Ireland, with the awards being held at Airfield Estate in Dublin on September 23 last.

Awarded under the craft category, Blackwater Distillery is a micro-distillery where a small team produces a range of spirits including gin, vodka, poitín, single malt and pot still Irish whisky.

Founder, author and distiller Peter Mulryan is passionately determined to reclaim the heritage of Irish whisky, remaking whiskies lost to time and redefining an entire category. Mulryan is determined to dig into the rich history of Irish whisky, using old recipes and history to inform current production.
