A statistical analysis of crimes recorded throughout the country conducted by The Irish Independent shows that crime has increased slightly in most areas across The Avondhu area in recent years, although figures were mostly on a par with those five years ago.
In some pockets the rise was more dramatic, such as in Kildorrery in County Cork, and Lismore and Tallow in West Waterford. The figures were obtained through the Central Statistics Office, which publishes recorded figures every three months.
The figures exclude homicide, sexual offences and most road traffic offences.
Data needs to be read with cognisance of the local factors. On the face of it, Kilworth may appear to be a hotbed of criminal activity in the last five years with 115 crimes recorded in 2023, up from just 29 in 2019. However…
