Safety fears are mounting as a route connecting Mitchelstown to Limerick has fallen into disrepair.
The issue has been raised by Cllr Martin Ryan who said that the route, travelling on the regional status R513 from Caherconlish to Mitchelstown, is ‘a hazard to motorists’ and needs to be upgraded to national road status.
Cllr Ryan said that this would see Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) take over the funding of the upkeep of the road and make it safer for all.
“In my view the problem is that it is too busy a road for to be called a regional road …”
