Gone are the days of travelling to the city for lingerie, as Deirdre O'Sullivan of The Wardrobe on Lower Cork Street, Mitchelstown will be adding a lingerie section to the shop from next week.

Deirdre first opened the store in 1996, and, given her experience in fashion, she saw a need for lingerie locally, adding that it would compliment and add to what she already provides in The Wardrobe.

Speaking to The Avondhu about this exciting new venture, Deirdre explained how what is worn under an outfit is just as important as the outfit itself.

"The shape of a woman's body can change for the better or worse depending on the lingerie she is wearing. Correctly fitting underwear provides the foundation on which your style and appearance is based - the power of underwear should never be underestimated.

"Christian Dior once said that without the foundation, there can be no fashion," Deirdre said.

Deirdre explained that they will be providing a complete fitting service and that the space for the new section is private with a spacious fitting room that will allow for people to browse and explore the new products on offer.

She added that as the lingerie section develops, she welcomes feedback from customers, in the hope that the section will evolve and grow in line with what customers are looking for.

Deirdre said that if a customer comes in to buy a new outfit with a handbag and accessories, now they can go that extra mile and spend just a little bit more on the lingerie.

While she intends to add more brands as the section grows, Deirdre will start off by supplying Triumph, Fantasia and Spanx and also a range of tights in varying colours and denier to suit every occasion and season.

"The Wardrobe will now have good quality lingerie, fitted to your shape with trusted brands and it will be in your local area. If people would like a product that we don't have in stock, it can be ordered and on the shelf within five working days.

"Since the idea was first broached, we have been getting very positive feedback and customers have been eagerly anticipating the new products.

"I think that it will greatly add to and compliment what is already available from the retailers in the town," Deirdre said.
