Liam O’Brien selected for Irish team

Liam O'Brien Fermoy CC in the Irish colours at the UCI World Cup held in Namur Belgium on December 19th.

Young Fermoy cyclist Liam O’Brien has been selected to compete with the Irish team in the world cyclo-cross championships being held in Arkansas in the USA, on January 29th and 30th, where he will be competing in the junior grade.

Liam has had a great winter of cyclo-cross racing, culminating last weekend in a magnificent solo win in the All-Ireland championships in Armagh and his selection is a just reward for his performances.

He has competed already at European level but this world championship will be a new challenge, Liam has prepared well and is ready to do his best.

Five cyclists have been selected to the Irish team, one in the elite women’s race, two in the U23 race and two in the junior race, where Liam will have as his teammate Belfast based Fionn Hankness and they are all wished the best over the weekend.

The junior championship is timed to start at 5pm, Irish time, on Sunday, January 30th.
