Vee Rovers 2 Killavilla United 3

Vee Rovers travelled to Killavilla United grounds in Roscrea last Sunday, where the opponents were a North Tipperary premier league side.

The first goal of the game went to the home side, but this didn’t deter Rovers and they were awarded for their efforts with a brilliant goal in the 25th minute – with a class header from Sean Flynn into Dave Hyland, who finished it to the net.

The home side went ahead five minutes later to go into the dressing rooms at half-time with a scoreline of 2-1 to the team from North Tipperary.

In the second half, Rovers regrouped and played some great soccer with Shane McGrath equalising on the 75th minute. It was all to play for against this premier side and it was nip and tuck from there to the 90th minute.

Then with 3 minutes played in injury time, the ref stretched his arms and pointed to the penalty spot and awarded a very dubious penalty, which was converted to leave Killavilla with a hard fought victory.

Rovers can hold their heads high after this courageous performance against the best in North Tipperary.

Next Sunday Vee Rovers are at home in Scart in the semi-final of the shield against Cullen-Lattin.
