‘It would be dangerous to build on a site that hasn’t been properly treated’
To prevent any potential problems down the line, Japanese knotweed must be completely eradicated from a site at Brigown in Mitchelstown before the commencement of a social housing development next year, according to Cllr Kay Dawson.
Cork County Council unveiled plans to construct nine terraced houses at the site last July, however the site is currently home to Japanese knotweed, an invasive plant with the ability to grow through walls, tarmac and concrete.
