Ballymacky FC 0-3 Kilworth Celtic FC
Celtic recovered from a heavy defeat last week to record a well deserved victory in the FAI Junior Cup on Sunday when they travelled to Tipperary to play Ballymacky FC. No indepth report available but goals from Jason McCarthy, Dave Twomey and a second half penalty from Justin Aherne gave the lads the passage to the next round.
A very young team out on the day so no doubt coaches Joe Aherne Snr and Labhras Flynn will be pleased with this. This Sunday the juniors travel to Waterford where they take on Tramore Rangers in the Munster Junior Cup. Kick off 2pm and as usual the group text will advise re travel details etc. A big thank you to Ballymacky FC who treated the lads to after match refreshments and food last Sunday. Well done everyone.
U10s beat Clashmore
This was a case of third time lucky! With numerous chances created, we were unlucky not to have scored early on, with the Clashmore keeper denying us on several occasions. Nevertheless, it was Clashmore who took the lead from a quick counter attack. However, Conor Hynes marshalled the defence and with midfield bossing the centre, Patrick Kenny quickly equalised with a real poacher’s goal. Celtic pushed on with some excellent play on the wing, with Darragh Gill finding the net and then Roan O’Riordan firing home another to put the result beyond doubt. A well-deserved victory for the lads who are training hard every week.
Squad (rotation system): Darragh Gill, Padraig Fenton, Conor Hynes, Ben Gallagher, Roan O’Riordan, Ben O’Keeffe, Patrick Kenny, Kyle Forde, Cathal Barry–Murphy, Padraig Cotter. Unavailable: Sean Og Kenneally, Pierce Riordan, Colm Lane, Ruari Tobin-Allen
U8s win 8-5
Celtic U8s also won last Saturday in Clashmore. Goals from Thomas Maher, Olainn McCarthy (4), Finnan Tobin Allen doing the business as the lads continue on their winning ways. No match report or squad names available but we will try to put this right with the coaches in the coming weeks.
Training: Saturday at 11-12 in the Parish Field (unless otherwise notified by group text)
U11s Play Cappoquin
Celtic U11s will contest their second league game this Saturday away v Cappoquin. After a first day win against Mogeely, Colm and Dave will be anxious to secure another 3 points this weekend. More in next week’s notes.
This weekend sees the U8s and u10s in action as they travel to Clashmore on Saturday. Sterling starts all round so far for the young charges and no doubt more stories will result from this encounter.
Parents are asked to ensure all players are wearing red top, black togs, black socks and shinguards on match days. No shin guards – no game.
Fixtures for coming weekend:
Saturday 19th Oct – U8/U10 – no game; U11s away v Cappoquin; U12/13 no game.
Sunday 20th:
Juniors away v Tramore Rangers in the Munster Junior cup. Group text will advise leaving time etc.

All coaches/managers/parents/players are advised that black togs and black socks are a requirement on match days and it goes without saying no shin guards, no game. Please adhere to these strict requirements on match days.
