A new development of seven new houses in Kilworth is set to go ahead as Cork County Council recruit a construction firm to carry out the work.
The project at Pound Lane in the village has been in the pipeline for a number of years, but now looks like it will become a reality in the near future.
Cork County Council have issued a contract notice on the e-tenders website for prospective companies to offer that they will take on the job.
The Pound Lane site, which is bounded by private housing and the Cois Coillte estate, will see six two bed houses along with one three bed house constructed.
At present the site is untouched – the contract notice was issued last week. It is anticipated that work could commence by the end of the year.
It is the latest large development of houses in a series of projects across the region and is part of Cork County Council’s plans to resolve the housing crisis.
