Water is the most basic of needs, but due to poor pressure and leaks, the people in Kildorrery don't have that most days, and they are calling for something to be done.

While it was clear from a public meeting last week, that there is no quick fix, it does seem as if the meeting spurred on action from the county council, as a delegation from the community met with Michael Savage of Cork County Council this week.

The council have already started to check the valves around the village and surrounding areas and it is hoped that a full audit, which will determine the scale of the situation, will be completed within a month or so.

At the meeting, people spoke about water dribbling from their taps, not having enough pressure to have a shower or turn on the washing machine or dishwasher, while businesses have found themselves closing their doors some days because they have no water. For others, the reservoir was leaking into their gardens, but their tap was running dry.
