Sending the first Christmas card is a huge part of the festive season and the messages contained within those cards are about love, friendship and joy, so it is all the more fitting when they have pictures from the sender's own locality.

The new Kildorrery Christmas card range has just been launched, with two new designs on the cards, this brings the total number of designs in circulation to seven and they all depict various scenes from the local area. With local community being a big focus for the cards, they are also printed locally by Dave Dwane in Farahy.

All profits raised from the sale of the cards will go towards production costs of the new folklore project by the Pictorial History Group. Since they were first established in 2009, the group have distributed just over €14,500 to various community groups across the parish.

The cards will bring a little more joy to people at Christmas, particularly for those abroad, as it will give them a taste of home and for those still in the locality, the cards are a lovely reminder of the beauty that surrounds us every day.

The cards are now on sale in Kildorrery Post Office, Thornhills, O'Sullivan's Centra and they will also be available at the Christmas market in the old creamery yard on the Fermoy Road on Saturday, December 13.

The organisers would like to thank all of the retailers for their support and for selling the cards and they hope that people will support the venture.
