The people of Kildorrery and the wider community were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Sheila Sheahan, Main Street who died on Friday last, December 18.

A native of Drumcondra, Dublin, Sheila (McCaul) ran the very successful Sheahan’s Hilltop Lounge and Grocery Store in the Corner House on Main Street for many years with her late husband Seamus, who died on May 28, 2014.

Sheila was a great believer and supporter of all things local and she was so proud to see the major improvements that the village had made in recent years. She was ever aware and grateful for the exceptional support shown to her and her family at the time of her husband’s death.

A woman of strong faith, she translated that faith into practice and made everyone’s day that little bit better with her warm smile. She was very determined and remained extraordinarily young at heart putting all her energy into her friends and family. Her grandchildren gave her a deep sense of pride and joy and she loved nothing more than spending time with them. Sheila also loved quality time spent with friends, tending to roses in the garden and holidaying in Kerry.

The large and representative turnout while reposing at her home, at her requiem Mass in St Bartholomew’s Church and subsequent burial in the local cemetery, spanned all age groups and was proof of the very high esteem in which she and her family are held.

To her daughter Margaret, sons Danny and Jimmy, sister Eileen, extended family, relatives and many friends, we extend our sincere condolences.
