Hillfest 2013 has been a resounding success and Kildorrery GAA Festival Committee would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those who helped make the four day event in brilliant sunshine what it was.

"Countless volunteered hours can often go unnoticed and without mentioning too many individual names, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who shared their creativity, efficiency and endless generosity to Hillfest 2013," Eamonn McCarthy said.

The committee thanked Tess and Willie Tickles and their families, sponsors, everyone who donated raffle prizes, those who made the table quiz happen including the quiz master, correctors, score keepers, volunteers, photographers and vidoegraphers who captured the spirit of the weekend, sound and lighting people who went beyond the call of duty, ticket sellers, those who brightened up the village with bunting and posters and handed out more than 1,000 flyers.

They would also like to thank The Avondhu, the musical artists, Ballyhoura Development, C103 FM, Exact Print and Design, Heineken, NCBI, Marymount Hospice and Drive to Survive

Thanks also go to An Garda Siochana, Kildorrery Drama Society and everyone who helped out at the wedding of the century, local publicans and retailers for all the support, the behind the scenes stage builders/decorators/wedding planners/engineers/electricians, countless volunteers who supplied and  prepared food and refreshments all weekend, all the volunteers who ran the fantastic summer camp all week, balloon blowers, rubbish collectors, Kildorrery Community Development Association and everyone who travelled to be in Kildorrery for The Gathering celebration of the 1962/63 teams.

Other people who made the weekend what it was include the Kildorrery branch of Ireland Reaching Out, the bar crew who worked tirelessly each night, the Funcheon Valley Vintage Club, Liam O'Sullivan who organised the bar licence, volunteer stewards, Twitter/Facebook followers, gate ticket crew, ‘token/camper van’ crew, and those who helped out in numerous other ways at the drop of a hat.

"Congratulations to everyone who won raffle prizes over the weekend, sports day medals, and to everyone from Kildorrery National School and Glenahulla National School who put so much effort into their colourful ‘Gathering posters’. Sincere apologies for any omissions, it is not intentional, lets just call it 'post festival fatigue'.

"Holding a festival is without doubt a team and community effort and the committee are looking forward to nurturing this relationship as we strategise for next year. We are truly grateful to the local and wider community, for their support, and finally, we must extend sincere gratitude to all those who travelled from near and far, to attend all of the events at Hillfest 2013. Kildorrery Festival 2014 will take place the first weekend in July and plans are already underway to make this, the best one ever," Eamonn McCarthy told The Avondhu.
