Castlebridge 4 Mogeely 3

In the final league game of the season Castlebridge put in a great performance when they reversed a couple of earlier results with a well deserved win over Mogeely, doing it in style with some fantastic goals from Johnny O’Sullivan, Kieran Higgins, JJ Murphy and Jeremy.

For now there is the Fitzgerald Cup left and the quarter-final of this game takes place this weekend against Caherdrinna. On current form Castlebridge will fancy getting a result and if they can get a run in this competition they could go all the way. Best of luck lads on Sunday.

YOUTHS GET GOOD WIN ON THE ROAD

Last Saturday the youths travelled to Mahon to take on Ringmahon Rangers in a Premier League game. Ronan Brady got the opening goal and Chippy could have added two more before the break. Celtic doubled the lead when Shane Fenton scored but then we seemed to let Ringmahon back into the game. The home side got one back but Castlebridge held on for a good win and will try to get another 2 points when Leeds come to visit this Thursday evening.

All the training and matches are helping in the build up to the biggest day in Castlebridge Celtic’s short history on Saturday, April 20 when Castlebar Celtic arrive to decide who will play in the National Youth Umbro Challenge Cup for 2013. The venue is Carrig Park, Fermoy and and we hope that a huge home support will be there on the day.

U12s ARE LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to our U12s who were crowned league champions over the Easter holidays with a fine 5-1 win in the final over Clashmore Ramblers. The lads were superb on the day and goals from Temi Olujosi, James Kearney and Jack Kenny helped make it a big occasion in Lismore. Now they can look forward to a cup final also which will be played within the next two weeks.

U11s IN CUP FINAL

Our U11s also pulled off a great result when they toppled favourites Clashmore in the semi-final also over the Easter holidays. They will now face Lismore in the final. The fixture is set for Cappoquin on Saturday at 12noon but check to be certain.

JOHN GILES FUN WALK

On a very cold and windy day last Sunday in Lismore, our U8s and U10s participated in the annual John Giles Fun Walk. There was a great turnout despite the weather and John Giles himself was on hand to help with the medal presentations.
