The traffic issues which occur daily at the entrance and exit to Texaco on the R639 Cork Road, Fermoy are due to be resolved both in the short term and the long term by Cork County Council.
Following a motion brought up by Cllr Noel McCarthy at the Fermoy Municipal Meeting on Tuesday, Senior Executive Engineer Brendan O’Gorman said that in the long-term, he hopes to install a roundabout at the intersection but in the short term, a yellow box will be painted on the road so that people travelling from the relief road across to the garage, must have a clear route ahead before they can enter the box.
He also agreed to speak with the proprietors of the garage about the possibility of closing the exit on the Fermoy side which would leave two entrances to the premises but just one exit.
