Once Loved Once Worn is making a return to the locality, offering new or barely used second-hand clothing in a bid to promote sustainable fashion.
Founded by Anglesboro locals, Áine and Clodagh McGrath, Áine will be hosting this event, this time teaming up with Ciara O’Brien of Barnahown.
Taking place on Monday, May 5 from 12 noon to 2pm, the event will see a host of local ladies selling their once-loved, once-worn occasion wear and dresses and will see proceeds from ticket sales going to the ISPCC.
“We have a broad range of sellers and sizes on the day. If you have an occasion coming up, it’s the place to find a beautiful outfit at a fraction of the price while promoting sustainable fashion. We also have some local business girls joining us on the day. It’s for an amazing cause with all ticket sales going to the ISPCC,” Áine told The Avondhu.
The idea for Once Loved Once Worn first came about as Áine and her sister explained that they had accumulated several outfits for different occasions that had only been worn once, and wanted to give a second life to the occasion dresses, jumpsuits, two-pieces, etc.
Previously, two very successful stagings of Once Loved Once Worn were held in Anglesboro Community Hall which saw several local sellers, performers and even local businesses getting in on the action, drawing large crowds seeking new rig-outs.
This time around, the ticketed event will take place at Barnahown B&B, and will see a shuttle bus running from the square in Mitchelstown to the venue, which will be covered in the ticket price.
Ciara O’Brien of Barnahown said that she is ‘proud’ to be partnering for the event.
“When I started the Barnahown adventure several years ago two things happened: I became a lot more conscious of fast fashion and our disposable culture, and disposable income plummeted! So I loved discovering platforms which actively promoted resale. Everyone knows about my pre-loved furniture addiction and recently I’ve been following the great work of some local ladies who run Once Loved Once Worn and create amazing events for people buying and selling little or never worn fashion and event wear,” she said.
ISPCC is one of the chosen charities that Barnahown supports, and Ms O’Brien noted that her good friend and long-time ISPCC devotee, Aoife Drake, will be joining the ladies to share more about their work.
The upcoming event also promises live music, refreshments and lots of local makers on the day. Tickets are now available at www.barnahown.com and links are also available via Once Loved Once Worn on social media.
