Irish Aid and Teagasc sign landmark agreement in Fermoy

A landmark agreement on research, training and co-operation in Africa between Teagasc and Irish Aid has been signed at Teagasc, Moorepark, Fermoy.

Teagasc and Irish Aid signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which provides for collaboration to enhance Ireland’s contribution, through agricultural research, training and extension, to developing countries. A landmark agreement on research, training and co-operation in Africa between Teagasc and Irish Aid has been signed at Teagasc, Moorepark, Fermoy.

The new agreement by Teagasc and Irish Aid, the Government’s programme for overseas development, will increase co-operation between Teagasc and national agricultural research institutions in Irish Aid’s Key Partner Countries in Africa.

Cork East TD - Minister for Development, Trade Promotion and North-South Co-operation Séan Sherlock, and Teagasc Director Professor Gerry Boyle, signed the agreement in Fermoy on Friday.

Speaking at Teagasc’s Animal & Grassland Research and Innovation Centre at Moorepark, Minister Sherlock welcomed the new agreement.
