Why’s Reformer Pilates suddenly so popular? What’s driving this trend, and how’s it shaking up the fitness world?
People have been practicing Mat Pilates for years and now they want to develop that knowledge on to the reformer! Life’s stressful, and people are ditching workouts that leave them wiped out.
They’re after something that’s good for both body and mind, something that connects them to themselves and makes them feel strong, not drained. Think workouts that build real strength and help you move better in everyday life, preventing injuries. Reformer Pilates ticks all those boxes – it’s adaptable, strengthens you, and empowers you mentally. At ThePilatesBarre, we cater for all levels so everyone from Rehab to the Elite Athlete can be catered for.
Reformer Pilates is known for being low-impact but still a killer workout. What are the main perks, and why do fitness people love it so much?
Reformer Pilates is popular because it’s low-impact but really effective. Using the reformer machine, you get a resistance-based workout that’s great for your core, improving your posture, balance, and how you move in daily life. The reformer lets you tweak the resistance, making every move super focused and efficient, working those smaller muscles you often miss in other workouts.
People also love that it’s all about alignment and mindful movement. It’s like a physical meditation – you have to concentrate, which helps you de-stress while getting a great workout. These days, people want workouts that work, are easy on the joints, and make them feel good mentally. Reformer Pilates delivers on all fronts.
How important are mental health and mindfulness in Pilates, and how does ThePilatesBarre bring that into their classes?
With over 20 years experience teaching Pilates and other movement modalities plus I’m a qualified NM Therapist, I bring all my knowledge and experience to every single client. I’m incredibly aware of mental health and mindfulness being a huge part of movement. A lot of workouts tell you to ignore your body and push through the pain, which can actually mess with your nervous system and make you feel worse.
At The Pilates Barre, we always say, “It starts with the breath.” Your breath is how your mind and body talk to each other. It helps you connect with your nervous system. In our classes, we constantly bring you back to your breath to help you check in with your body. Is it telling you to push a little harder, or to take it easy?
We want to boost that mind-body connection and build a strong nervous system so you can move powerfully and with awareness, both in the studio and out in the world.
We are a studio offering private 1/1 sessions, plus 50 classes weekly. Find your level & join us, book online www.thepilatesbarre.ie.
