The sixth Blackwater International Poetry Festival took place in Castletownroche last weekend. Once again the event was successful in attracting poets from Europe and beyond – Denisa Duran, Michele Vassal-Ring, Ronnie McGinn, Dennis Moriarty, Polly Richardson, Patrick Lodge, Micheal Kearney and James Hyde were just some of the attendees.
The bulk of the weekend’s activities centred around Castletownroche with The Castle Arms, The Rockforest Bar and Blackwater Castle all playing host to readings and workshops.
The festival poetry trail was also well supported as was the historical tour that took in Leaba Caille, Mitchelstown Cave and The Funcheon Bar.
Visiting poetry groups from Mallow and Lismore also attended. The weekend also incorporated a book launch by Dublin based poet, Anne Tannam.
